About us
The Professional Tourist Guides Association, APGT A.G., Metropolitan Region, Santiago of Chile, was founded in 1987. It is one of the oldest guilds of Registered Tourist Guides in the country. We are a non profit organization registered for the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism. Our 31 currently active licensed members have undergone a rigorous process to achieve professional certification, the highest quality standard of integrity, performance and accuracy. This qualification has been issued and recognized by the government. Our guides have a high level of expertise, competence and knowledge and a variety of specialized skills to assist individuals, teams and groups. Within our membership, there are 7 languages spoken. Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, German, Russian and Italian. We might offer various trainings according to their particular skills.
Mission
Promote the professionalization of the common activity of its associated Tourist Guides, valuing their importance, for this purpose the APGT A.G. must exercise all the necessary actions for this purpose, strengthening and taking advantage of the skills and expertise of our associates to conduct guided tours throughout the Metropolitan Region and its surroundings, providing a professional service to national and foreign tourists, conducting training to organizations of local communities and achieve benefits for our members and the community, such as training and certifications to continually improve our professional performance and contribute to local development. Also, APGT AG. exercises the representation of interests in front of public and private organizations, which have a direct or indirect relationship with the activity of this Association and its members.

Objectives
- Encourage associativity and solidarity between the associated Tourist Guides, and that of these with others who carry out the common activity, facilitating professional performance in their area, as well as between the different organizations that group them throughout our country, maintaining also contacts with some organizations of Tourist Guides abroad.
- Formation of a tourist conscience in the community.
- Representing Tourist Guides in front of government authorities, both nationally and regionally, and in front of institutions and organizations related to the tourism industry, both nationally and internationally.
- Involve associates in the active participation of workshops, courses, trainings, seminars, dictated by this Association or any public or private body.
- Provide legal and accounting advice to associates who require it.
